Hi I’m Jodie DS, no relation to Nintendo! From a young age I quickly learnt how to turn a creative idea into a practical masterpiece. Nothing has changed today, ever since I can remember I have been helping bring business ideas to life. For more than 10 years I have freelanced through my business Sugacoat It a variety of services including marketing strategy, advertising, event management, social media, photography, videography, branding and copywriting. My ability to multi-task has enabled me to develop skills across many facets of a business across a variety of industries including music, events, tourism, media, fashion, not for profit, retail, education and building.
Learning is a daily ritual for me, I believe anything is possible with perseverance, YouTube and good listening skills. I have completed a Bachelor of Business with a double major in Marketing and International Relations as well as courses in radio, video, photography, social media and the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Premier and InDesign). In my spare time I enjoy learning Spanish, new creative software programs and social media trends.
The music industry is a huge passion of mine. I first had a taste working as a bar tender and promoter for a local club, and as my zeal for the industry grew, so did my resume. I have worked for some of Australia’s best music festivals including Stereosonic, Creamfields, Remember the Days and Future Music assisting with liaison and stage management for artists including Drake, Will Sparks, Timmy Trumpet, SCNDL and Wynter Gordon, as well as ticket sale management and promotions. 2 years running I was also involved in an annual 10 day party held in Koh Samui (Thailand), where I assisted with the promotion of the event.
The past few years I have lived between Australia and Ibiza. In 2014 I was approached to organise boat and pre-parties for Ibiza Beatz, which involved DJ bookings, event planning, photography, social media and online sales. I also worked as a Photojournalist for Essential Ibiza, Ibiza Hire and IBZ.TV which involved taking images/videos at events and writing supporting features, as well as interviewing various artists including Monkey Safari, Patrick Topping, ANEK, SEFF, Detlef, Denney, Steve Lawler and more.
2015 I continued to work with Essential Ibiza where I represented them on a range of events including the International Music Summit and the DJ Awards. I was given the opportunity to film and edit the launch video for Essential Singapore which involved a week’s trip filming the most iconic sights. It was a busy year, I also joined the Capadi Rebels family where I coordinated their marketing, PR, online ticketing, social media and promotions including the VIVa Warriors promotions team. On event nights at Sankeys I managed animation during DJ sets and merchandise giveaways.
2016 was another amazing year. In May I went to the Netherlands to film the video for the launch of Essential Amsterdam and in Ibiza I launched Essential Ibiza TV. The platform in its first 6 months produced more than 160 videos with more than 4 million views for a variety of global brands including Space, Pacha, Ushuaia, Amnesia, Blue Marlin, STK, Elrow, Defected, Cocoon and Ministry of Sound to name a few. I interviewed some of the biggest names in club land including Hardwell, Rudimental, Eats Everything, Andhim, Hot Since 82, Amine Edge & Dance, Basement Jaxx, Claptone, Bushwacka, Miguel Campbell, John Morales, Dimitri From Paris, Joey Negro, Darius Syrosian, Andrea Olivia, Illiario Alicante and many more. One of my highlights of the summer was being selected to follow Maceo Plex around 10 secret locations of Ibiza as well as filming with Smart Charter around the magical Es Vedra – the closest I had ever been.
2017 I decided to move on from Essential Ibiza after 3 great years and begun to work with the Ushuaia Magazine (IUMAG Ibiza). I launched an online video platform to support the magazine’s content through an interactive mobile phone app which brought the magazine to life through video. From fashion to restaurants and everything else in between it was an incredible summer. 75 high quality videos were produced in 5 months which some videos reaching more than 110k. The highlights of the summer was producing a video for jewellery brand Dreamers Ibiza which involved a stunning white horse. I also loved the interview with David Guetta about the 10 Tracks That Had Changed His Life.
In between of that I also film weddings in Australia and Ibiza which I find incredibly rewarding. I just love capturing happy couples enjoying one of the biggest days on their lives on film.
On a deeper personal level, I am extremely dedicated to my nutrition and environmental impact. We must be the change we want to see in the world. I have big plans for the future to bring out my own lifestyle blog and many other ideas rustling through my mind; sky is the limit!
To put it simply, I am a walking talking creative dictionary ready to take on your project!
